I never know when a little spark of inspiration is going to pop up so I have learned to keep my eyes open and be on the lookout. Sometimes it comes in the form of a word or two spoken by a friend other times it can be a part of a plant or flower that seems like it comes from another world.
As I was buying things for dinner I passed by some fresh chives, an ingredient that is not often part of our dinners, but they called me so I grabbed a small handful and took them home.
Fresh veggies are simple little beauties, and with a good knife, wonderful to chop. I have a love for cutting them into small little pieces and watching the designs appear. As the thin green straws of chives came off the knife, water held the small cylinders together like a bundle of little tunnels. Definitely a design worth sketching and maybe even adding to a future painting.
These little gems are all around. I have to be willing to slow down and notice and I have to be willing to see where an idea takes me.
